The FX-243 is a FT-243 style holder for HC49/U and HC49/S crystals.  Included on the bottom side of the holder is options for a trimmer capacitor and other components to make a mini-VXO circuit on board!  A small jig is also included to aid in aligning and soldering the pins in place.

Size: 21.25mmW x 33.2mmH x 14mmD (.84″x1.3″x.55″) pins extrude 10mm (.4″) from enclosure.

    For the price, this is an amazing kit to experiment with changing the crystal frequency. I put together the crystal with the included variable capacitor and it worked to increase my 7.110 tall crystal to 7.113. I am using it with my 2 tube Ameco AC-1 clone transmitter. So far it is stable with no noticeable chirp! The Pixie is next. 🙂

    This little kit is easy to assemble and works fine with the “sample pack” HC-49U “tall” crystals also sold here. I’m using the crystals and FX-243 holders in a homebrew tube transmitter (uses a 6GW8 tube in Pierce oscillator configuration). Output signal looks and sounds the same as with the vintage FT-243 crystals I have from old stock. Using the holders makes it easy to change crystals and retains the vintage look. Dimensions (above) are slightly larger than standard FT-243, so check for fit if you have a very tight compartment to fit them into.
